Pairs well with

A hand-loomed wool rug in deep umber, washed so the center looks worn, with a medallion you notice the second time you look and an oat border stepped like old floor tile.

Wool is why it costs more than a printed rug. In afternoon light the pile looks deep and warm, and it springs back from chair legs better than polyester does.

The pile is 0.4 inch, so doors clear it. Lay it on a rug pad and it stays put on wood.

It goes with the Ochre Runner in the hall and the Tufa Vanity Set in the bath. All three come from the same five earth colors.

  • The dog approved before I did

    Got the 5 x 8 for our living room. Rolled it out, went to get coffee, came back and the dog had claimed it. The color is darker and warmer in person than on my screen, which I actually prefer. Low enough that the door clears it.

  • Sized up and glad I did

    Used the painter's tape trick from the size guide and realized 5 x 8 would float. Went 6 x 9 and the sofa and both chairs sit on it now.

  • Great rug, give it a day to flatten

    Arrived rolled, not folded, which I appreciated. The ends curled for about two days and then lay flat. Shed a little the first week, nothing since. Knocking off one star only because I wish there was an 8 x 10.

  • Exactly the color
